My academic publications include an open-access monograph on applications of fair and equitable benefit-sharing in agriculture, cited in the 2021 report of the 2021 Report of the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food, Michael Fakhri, on “Seeds, right to life and farmers’ rights” (UN Doc A/HRC/49/43); one co-authored open-access article-by-article commentary to the Nagoya Protocol on access and benefit-sharing; one co-edited collection on the Nagoya Protocol and implications for international law; contribution to nine legal studies concluded for international organizations, including the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on issues related to biodiversity governance, as well as an invited contribution to the highly prestigious Global Assessment on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES); 16 book chapters, including a mix of sole-author efforts and multi-author collaborations; 13 articles to reputable peer-reviewed journals; and regular contributions to the Yearbook of International Environmental Law and Environmental Policy and Law.
A series of other publications are in the pipeline, including a monograph on “Global Biodiversity Law” commissioned by Edward Elgar Publishing, to be co-authored with Ruth Mackenzie by 2028. I am the lead author on biotechnologies, a chapter under the domain of governance of novel technologies of the first assessment of the International Panel on Earth System Governance; and co-editor of the Brill/Martinus Nijhoff book series “Legal Studies on Access and Benefit-sharing”. I have served as a reviewer for academic journals including Global Environmental Politics, Transnational Environmental Law, Modern Law Review, and the Review of European, Comparative and International Environmental Law; the UK Metascience Unit; and of funding applications for the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
